How should a nation or society be governed? What is a good form of government in the eyes of God? What experience about governments tells the bible? We live in a world where a lot of people in different countries think about a strong leader in their governments. They want to have direct orientation from a leading person instead of democratic discussions, compromises and long ways to come to political decisions. Such leaders all over the world try to expand their power and authority. How can we deal as christians with these developments? Can the bible give us orientation? Questions for discussion: 1.) How does Jotam see kingship (Jud 9)? How does Samuel see kingship (1 Sam 8)? 2.) How should a society or the people of Israel be governed? What concepts or ideas are found in the Old Testament? 3.) Are there elements in the New Testement about the way of government in the society? 4.) How is my country be governed? Is it in the way the bible suggests? Are there differences or similarities? How do you deal with this?
